Frequently Asked Questions
Why work with a coach?
Many times a specific incident or opportunity will lead one to work with a coach. Maybe a new job is on the horizon and you want to improve how you ‘show-up’ to interviews. Maybe you are currently a leader of an organization and want to change the results obtained. Having a specific goal in mind is an excellent reason to choose to work with a coach.
Other times, we check in to the knowledge that we are not living the life that would give us the greatest joy. Maybe things are generally “ok” or even “pretty good,” but they’re not quite where we want them to be. A coach can help you identify the blocks preventing you from reaching your goals, allowing for a more choiceful, intentional life.
Finally, there are times when we find ourselves in deep crisis. Many times this will lead someone to therapy (please see below); however coaching can also play a valuable role in addressing crises, providing insight to new possibilities we had not previously seen, and new answers to a previously un-answerable question.
How is coaching different from psychotherapy?
Both psychotherapy and coaching have the broader intention of improving the client’s life. A main difference is coaching is non-diagnostic, and does not assume there is something ‘wrong’ with the client that needs fixing. The coaching relationship is more of a partnership, and is focused on the present and future.
It is not uncommon for a client to have both a psychotherapist and a coach, with each having its own merits. One does not replace the other.
Per the International Coaching Federation:
“The main distinctions between coaching and psychotherapy are based on focus, purpose, and population. Coaching focuses on visioning, success, the present, and moving into the future. Therapy emphasizes psychopathology, emotions, and the past in order to understand the present. The purpose of coaching is frequently about performance improvement, learning, or development in some area of life while therapy often dives into deep-seated emotional issues to work on personal healing or trauma recovery.”
Who are your ‘typical’ clients?
I work with clients of all ages and genders. While I am based in the United States, I partner with clients world-wide. The concerns my clients come to me with range from wanting to change the way they show up in the world, to how to achieve their desired work-life balance, as well as discovering their own internal blockers preventing them from being their best self. Every client is different, and I am ready to help each work on their own unique concerns.
What are your coaching rates?
All initial meet-and-greet style sessions are free of charge, during which time we will ensure we are a good match to get the results you desire. Rates from then out are dependent on the number of sessions booked, with a discount if bundled. I recommend a minimum of four sessions (not including the introduction meeting) with a coach to really make impactful change. However, individual sessions are available. If paid as a bundle, 5 sessions are $400, while individual sessions are $100/hour.
What are your writing and content creation rates?
Rates are project dependent. Please reach out for a quote so we can work together.
